Makeover Project #1: Window without a View

This high-level window is on the side of the house. It looks directly onto the wall of the extension on the neighbouring property. It is not the main window or view in the room, but the wall is unsightly.

Problems

  • View of a brick wall
  • Red tiled windowsill absorbs light
  • Wood frame is dated

Window with a view of a brick wall

Before - a view of a brick wall

Solutions

  • Apply self-adhesive frosting film to obscure view without limiting light
  • Change windowsill for MDF sill painted in white satinwood paint.
  • Paint wood frame with white satinwood paint

    Window with frosted film

After - the focus now is the ornaments on display

Project cost = £30 (windowsill, sill adhesive, frosting film, paint)
